What is most disturbing is seeing adults and older teenagers or young adults so uninterested and disrespectful of our Lord as to participate in such an activity as “texting” during worship. If the behavior is addictive, get help. Otherwise disconnect for the hour that your Lord deserves your undivided attention.

Second, it is amazing how silly men become when they begin to guide themselves in the practice of religion. I mean, chocolate?… Come on!
“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12).
“O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).

When people arbitrarily redefine terms, it allows for all types of sin. If you can redefine life, you can justify abortion. If you can redefine murder, it allows for assisted suicide. If you can redefine marriage, it allows for homosexual unions. If you can redefine adultery, it allows you to to keep a wife after an unlawful divorce. Men may redefine, but it does not change God’s will!

Using the examples of Noah and the flood, Israel at the Red Sea, and Naaman dipping in the Jordan, we establish that Salvation and cleansing come “through” the water. Application: Baptism is necessary for salvation.

You do not choose your gender, any more than you choose your race. There is something called DNA that determines whether an individual is male or female, regardless of the mutilation they may endure to appear differently.

Overconfidence can often lead to disaster, and this is true with regard to an individual’s spiritual standing as quickly as any other. As the apostle warned:
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
(1 Corinthians 10:12)

1 Peter 3:15 tells us as Christians we are to always be ready to give an answer for our hope. Are you able to tell why you do the things that you do religiously. Well, are you?

While we want our children to know how very precious their souls are, we do not want them to think that the work of the church is to cater to their whims. Brethren, this is what the institutional churches have done. While they have large numbers, they do not have convicted Christian youth, who know and practice the truth. Let us use the wisdom of God in teaching our young.

The Hebrews epistle describes differences between the Old Covenant, and the New Covenant. Such differences establish clearly the superiority of Christ and his covenant.

Scientists pour millions of man hours into a project designed to, in some limited way, mimic man’s emotions and intellect. These same scientists deny a Designer in the original. This shows them to have a prejudiced mind. Too often Christians fear the so-called knowledge of the “experts.” We are intimidated by the terminology, ill-prepared to counter the bold assertions, and cowed by the letters behind the names. Rather, we should see such men who rail against the revelation of God as ineffectual children who “won’t see it” because they refuse to “open their eyes.” “For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them” (Acts 28:27). They refuse to see, hear and understand the existence of God because if they do, they will have to turn from their wicked way of living and their selfishness. This they will not do.

Guest speaker Dennis Scroggins establishes from scripture that God hates divorce, and intends for a marriage to last for a lifetime. One man, one woman, for a lifetime is the teaching of scripture. We need to emphasize this rule in our preaching.
