We encourage all to remember (in discussing the varied scenarios, circumstances and what-ifs), the simple principle which lies at the heart of the matter. God established the home, and intends for a man and woman to honor the committment they make. It is, One man, One woman, for a lifetime.
In the face compromise, error must be rooted out, and the truth must be defended. Paul told Timothy, “But you be watchful in all things” (vs. 5), and Jude exhorted, “…Contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (vs. 3).
Since there is nothing said in scripture of the put away person remarrying, we must not advocate it in our teaching and practice. This position, as the others mentioned previously, all do violence to the basic principle of God’s law on marriage, one man, one woman, for a lifetime.
