Add To Your Faith
Sunday, May 30th, 2004Faith in Christ is the beginning of the Christian life. You can’t be reconciled to the Father in heaven without it.
Faith in Christ is the beginning of the Christian life. You can’t be reconciled to the Father in heaven without it.
Your perceptions regarding abortion depend mainly upon one simple question, Is abortion murder? If you believe it to be murder, then there is absolutely no justification for abortion. If you believe it to be a medical procedure that results in the simple removal of fetal tissue, then you have no more qualms at the practice than you would the removal of your appendix.
We must as a society recognize that abortion is the greatest horror our nation could possibly sanction. It is the wholesale murder of unborn children!
Sexual attraction results from physical display, and men are especially influenced in this way. A woman who dresses in such a way as to incite lust in men is an immoral woman.
The individual who becomes a Christian can rightly be said to be a “babe” (cf. 1 Peter 2:2). He is to “desire the pure milk of the word” so that he may “grow thereby, if indeed [he has] tasted that the Lord is gracious.” (vs. 2-3). An aspect of this growth is the diligent addition to the Christian’s faith of the graces mentioned in 2 Peter 1:5-7: virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love.
Though men may claim that homosexuality is a legitimate “alternate lifestyle” it does not change the fact that God declared such sexual activity as sin.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only effectual message for the saving of man’s soul. It is a simple, but powerful message, and it is the only one we need to arm ourselves with as we strike out into the world. We ought to bear it proudly. We should not apologize for it, or for our limited talents as we seek to spread it.
In the church, Christ must always come first. If we have truly counted the cost, we know this. Our lives should mirror this recognition. It should be evident in our own actions, and in our instructions to our children, as we seek to bring them up “training and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).
It has been said that the only two things in life that are certain are “death and taxes.” I think that a more correct phrase would be that there are three, “death, taxes, and JUDGMENT.” At least, that is the idea that is put forth in Hebrews 9:27.
We need to define the term “grace.” The word “grace” means undeserved or unmerited favor. Grace is the opposite of Merit. This idea is best borne out with regard to the salvation of man. If any man believes that he can in any way earn or merit his salvation he is sorely mistaken.
The present state of denominationalism, with its various man-made creeds, and humanly established institutions, is not Christ’s will. Our Lord does not want us to be hyphenated Christians: “Baptist-Christian”, “Methodist-Christian”, “Catholic-Christian” or “Presbyterian-Christian.” We should be Christians, and Christians only.
The greatest example of giving I know is God sending his Son to the world to die. I might would be willing to give myself to save the life of another, but I doubt I would be willing to give one of my children for the same purpose. But God did, and His motivation was love.
Are you happy? It is an important question. But the second is more important. WHY? Upon what do you base that happiness? Think about it. There should be objective, quantifiable reasons for the joy you have.
Must individuals in denominations who were baptized “for the remission of sins” (Christian church; Mormons; Some Pentecostals) be immersed again to be acceptable to God? What constitutes scriptural (acceptable) baptism in the eyes of God?
