Some may believe that a mutation which gives a child amazing muscular development gives credence to the theory of evolution, which claims such mutations as the mechanism through which general evolution occurs. Actually, the discovery helps to show the inadequacy of such a claim.

Immediately following the Dallas Cowboys victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game in December 1995, Michael Irvin, one of the Cowboy’s stars, was interviewed live on the national broadcast. While profanity is common these days on television, one of the words Irvin said caused quite a furor in that it is still considered unacceptable for use on TV.

It is not enough to remain a babe in Christ, one who is “unskilled in the word of righteousness” (Hebrews 5:13). Instead, the child of God, to secure an entrance in heaven, must add to his faith and virtue, knowledge.

We can’t expect the world to get it right when considering spiritual matters. As Paul said, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit” (Romans 8:5).

Make no mistake about it, changing services to accommodate the Super Bowl, or skipping the evening service to watch the game is WRONG. It is sinful, and clearly shows that the professed Christian has his priorities skewed.

Be careful of anyone who starts an explanation with the statement, “To me…” As in, “To me, adultery is…”, or “To me, sin is…”, or, “To me, God is…” It doesn’t matter what adultery, sin or God is to you. What matters is what God says it is, not what you say it is.
