Archeologist Unearths Biblical Controversy
Sunday, January 30th, 2005Just because man denies the authenticity of the biblical text is no reason for us to doubt the inspiration of the Bible.
Just because man denies the authenticity of the biblical text is no reason for us to doubt the inspiration of the Bible.
If in the New Testament we find Christians participating in an activity, and the example we find is spoken of as approved of God, we can rightly surmise that this practice is divinely authorized. This is establishing authority by “Approved Example.”
Our nation seems to be getting ever nearer an interpretation of the constitution which would change the concept that government does not have the right to limit the free exercise of religion to the point that government has the obligation to do just that.
Where there are instructions, there has to be an instructor. Where there is organization, there must be an organizer. And where “highly specific” directions are given, their must be a director. The Teleological Argument is a very simple one. Design demands a designer! Design presupposes God!
When you go through the scriptures, and come to an expressed command of God, don’t try to “interpret” it, or rationalize a way to avoid compliance… Obey it!
Nature proves to us that God exists. While we can’t see Him, we certainly can see evidence of Him in the grandeur of His creation.
Jesus, the source of divine authority today, speaks through the New Testament. To be His follower, we must obey His word! Everything that we teach or practice as children of God must find its authorization in the pages of the New Testament.
While man is unable to avert such natural forces, God created “the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Surely the One who is omnipotent is the One we must submit to in devotion and humility.
It is not irrational to believe in God. It is not ignorant to accept the Bible as divinely inspired. As Paul, Christians can confidently present these Christian evidences, “Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.” (Acts 24:25).
When Jesus came to earth, he claimed all authority for himself, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth’” (Matthew 28:18). Jesus is King, and has sole discretion in the making of law. We are to listen and obey him, and him alone.
It has been said that a long journey begins with a single step. By taking each step, one at a time, and diligently accomplishing the “small things”, we can continue our Christian growth by going “on to perfection” (cf. Hebrews 6:1).
The coming year has the potential to be one of great growth and blessing for this congregation. However, the strength of this church is greatly dependent upon you!
