The world’s approval of Daniel Radcliffe stripping for a dramatic role in the play, Equus is an example of the ungodly attitudes prevalent in society. While the world is characterized by such ungodliness, the Christian should be clear of it. Both in his personal life and conduct, and in his approval of the same.
Man as a creature is designed to worship his Creator. Our purpose on earth is to serve Him (cf. Eccl. 12:13-14). If we do not take advantage of every opportunity, we miss out on so much. It is my prayer that all will read again Revelation chapters 4 and 5, and realize the great privilege we have to worship the Almighty God in heaven.
The book of Acts reveals the joy of each individual as they obey the gospel of Christ, and become children of God. They rejoice when they rise from the waters of baptism, and all of God’s children rejoice with them.
The Catholic church contends that it, as an institution, is the final arbiter and authority for all matters pertaining to the spiritual welfare and condition of man. A careful reading of the scriptures shows this claim to be invalid. God intended His word to be the final standard man must submit to religiously.
Hebrews 8 establishes that Jesus Christ, as our High Priest, is superior in every way to those who ministered in that office under the Old Covenant.
Ephesians 2:8-10 not only establishes the means by which we obtain salvation (by grace through faith), but also establishes the responsibility of the child of God to perform the good works God has prepared for us.
Moses was a great man of faith. However, on one occasion he exhibited a lack of faith in God, as recorded in Numbers 20:7-12. Even in that failure he teaches us great and important lessons concerning the faith that we have toward God.
By neglect, willful sin or undiscerning worship we may be guilty of the same thing the Jews were guilty of when they cried out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” (Luke 23:31). God expects a great deal of His children, both in the lives that we live, and the worship we offer up to Him.
We have been made holy by God. Our lives as His children should remain unsullied both by pornography, and its lesser lewd and lascivious counterparts in the movies, on TV and in popular music. God calls the Christian to purity, a life lived by a higher standard than that recognized by those in the world. Anything else is inconsistent and incompatible with the Christian walk.
The doctrine of Premillinialism is false. Those who teach it, with their predictions of the second coming, and their belief of a future physical reign of Christ on earth, misuse texts such as Revelation 20.
While we are not unsympathetic to individuals who have married badly, we must be careful not to twist the scriptures in an attempt to allow what God has not. What is clearly taught by our Lord remains unchallenged by the theories of man. His law on marriage is: One man, one woman, for a lifetime, with one exception!
What I do know is that if we spend untold billions, and find another piece of rock out there that has liquid H2O and microscopic squigglies swimming around, it will be because God created them. And, though such a discovery will have little if any practical use to mankind, it will be trumpeted as a great victory for “science.” And it will change nothing.
We can trust in the promises God has made to us because of His ability to keep His promises.
A reference to the Will of God should include not only His commands and requirements of mankind, but also his purpose for man.
In order for us to please God, self must be crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20).
