Good Christians make good friends. This is because the basis of good friendship is love, which is the same basis of the Christian walk. The sermon examines Faith and friendship, to show how using Scriptural principles will help us to become better friends.

The scriptures are profitable to complete a man, and equip him for every good work (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16-17). Jeremiah identifies and applies the truths found in four verses designated by the Holy Spirit as “faithful sayings.”

The Phrase “A personal relationship with God” is used often today. Unfortunately it is sometimes used to mean something other than what God requires for such a relationship. Such a relationship requires contact, spending time together, trust and nurturing.

To resolve to do something is to earnestly determine to accomplish it. In James 4:14-16, the concept of “resolving” is accompanied with the phrase “if the Lord wills.” If the Lord wills, we should resolve to: Be courageous, Serve the Lord, Not grow weary, Carefully follow Him, and Remember that He is watching. We must overcome the temptation to put anything before our Christ. If we put Christ first, we will attend worship, give purposefully and liberally, study His word, zealously and tirelessly work in His vineyard, pray often and share the good news with others.

John 12 records the beginning of the final days of our Lord’s life. It also records the fickle nature of men. Men who initially received Him as the Son of David, worshipping Him upon his entry into Jerusalem – then later clamoring to kill Him on the cross.

The book of Ecclesiastes shows the wisdom to be found in listening to the preacher. The preacher is the man who studies and discerns God’s word, and has the capability to share that word with others. He is the one who has the answers to the important questions of life.

The Apostle Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 3:1-11 that division of any type is an indication of a carnal man and unacceptable to God. We have been called to holiness, and such purity requires we work together in unity and love.
