Sermons Preached at West Side. Outlines, PPT Presentations and Audio files
The title of the sermon is a reference to Paul’s statement in 1 Corinthians 8:1-3. Throughout the ages, an inappropriate attitude toward knowledge has led to arrogance and other sins. An appropriate attitude towards truth acknowledges its importance regarding the salvation of man, but that knowledge itself is not the end, but rather a means to obtaining that end, the salvation of the soul.
The sermon uses the Lord’s interaction with Tax Collectors and other sinners to point out the importance of not judging by stereotype, and God’s willingness to save all men who will come to Him.
The fool has certain common characteristics he shares with others of his ilk. He denies God’s existence, does not control his base impulses, ignores the dangers of sin, refuses godly counsel because of prideful heart, and never prepares himself for his inevitable death.
There is nothing more important in life than living for Jesus. The phrase, “playing for keeps” is often used to indicate that someone is serious about what they are doing. We as Christians should be serious about our obedience to God, as the Devil certainly is playing for keeps.
The actions of Peter and John (recorded in Acts 4) indicated to the Jewish leaders that they had been with Jesus. The lesson explains the characteristics of those who walk with the Lord, and asks the important question, “Can people see that you walk with Him?”
In Genesis 12, God made 3 promises to Abraham. He promised that Abraham would have descendents who would become a great nation; He promised that He would give that people a land to call their own; Finally, He promised that through Abraham’s seed all nations of the earth would be blessed. This lesson examines those promises.
