Invitation: The Saving Gospel
In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, the apostle notes the fundamental truths which make up the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. He assures the Corinthians that salvation is theirs, “if you hold fast that word…”
Sermon: Drawn to Jesus
This sermon expresses why we should desire to be drawn to Jesus, as well as how it is done.
The Power of God to Salvation
Paul wrote in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
His words are an interesting contrast to those of Jesus in John 5:39-40, “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.”
There is no contradiction here. The gospel is powerful in that it is the means by which a sinner comes to Christ. We are saved by grace through faith (cf. Ephesians 2:8-9). There is no magic in the incantation of words. The Bible is not to be confused with the magician’s abracadabra.
Paul wrote, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The purpose of messianic prophecy, and the four gospels of the New Testament is to bring us to a knowledge of, and acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We must be noble as the Bereans (cf. Acts 17:11), and accept the truths that are contained in scripture. As Jesus notes, the scripture testifies of Him, and we must be willing to come to Him that we “may have life.”
Belief in Jesus requires belief in his virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, resurrection from the dead, and His ascension to God’s right hand. Will you come to Him?
Sermon: The Gospels of Christ
This sermon is a discussion of the gospels of Christ, and their purpose.
Sermon: The Word of God is Not Chained!
God’s Word, His will for man remains relevant, powerful, sufficient and suitable as a standard of judgment for men. If we receive that word, and believe it, we will be blessed beyond comprehension.
“Speak to us smooth things”
Some people have a problem with truth. Not all truth, just truth they find objectionable. By refusing to listen to it, they fail to hear what is needed to convict and convert them from sin to righteousness. Are you one of those people? Am I?
The Risen Lord and His Commission
Lesson 8 of 9, Fall 2016 Gospel Meeting. Speaker: Jeremiah Cox.
A passionate appeal to heed the command of the Lord to preach the gospel to every creature. The lesson emphasizes the importance and power of the gospel message.
FB: The Message of the Cross
In 1 Corinthians 1:18, Paul wrote, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
The “message of the cross.” What is that message? It is the unique message of redemption for mankind. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
Victory in death is a message the world certainly does not understand. It is a “stumbling block” and “foolishness” to the unbeliever (1 Corinthians 1:23).
Regardless, it is true! “Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” (Hebrews 5:8-9).

Sermon: Great & Terrible
The apostle Paul asserts the greatness of God’s Scheme of Redemption, accomplished in Jesus Christ. However, some who have embraced Him as Lord, inexplicably turn away. This apostasy is a most terrible thing.
The Patternists: God’s Foolishnesss
“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe” (1 Corinthians 1:21).
This verse reveals two very important things:
First, man’s wisdom does not lead to a knowledge of God. It is not surprising that our secular society denies and ridicules the belief that an almighty and merciful God exists.
Second, God determined to reveal Himself and His will for man. He did this through written scripture (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16-17). The truths revealed in that written word are the way God saves man. Paul wrote, “we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).
Any who guide you in a way of man’s devising, lead you to destruction. The way to life is revealed solely by God Himself. “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men” (1 Corinthians 1:25).

Invitation: Nothing Except Jesus Christ
Invitation delivered by: Stan Cox
In 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 Paul states that he has nothing to offer except for Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. While the religious world offers so many other things, the only thing we have the right to offer is the gospel of our Lord!
Invitation: The Mighty Word of God
Invitation delivered by: Stan Cox
In Acts 19:20, “So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.” The preaching of the word brings opposition, but ultimately God gains the victory!
Sermon: Despair – A Motivation to Share the Gospel
So many are lost in sin and despairing, not knowing where to turn. The gospel is a beacon of hope. As Christians, we should be motivated to share that precious message of salvation.
