On July 4, 1776, America declared her independence. In a similar vein, one who becomes a child of God obtains independence from sin – liberty is found in Christ Jesus (cf. Galatians 5:1).
Sermon: An Admonition to be Sanctified (2 Corinthians 6)
The text is an exegesis of 2 Corinthians 6. Paul adominishes the Corinthians to live sanctified lives, that the grace of God they have received will not be in vain.

In his epistle to the Colossians, the apostle Paul establishes the Preeminence of the Lord Jesus Christ, and calls for Christians to avoid human philosophies, traditions and worldliness, and place their trust in Him.

There is nothing more important in life than living for Jesus. The phrase, “playing for keeps” is often used to indicate that someone is serious about what they are doing. We as Christians should be serious about our obedience to God, as the Devil certainly is playing for keeps.
In the News: Southern Baptists Vote…
An Associated Press report on June 20, 2012 noted a particular resolution passed almost unanimously by the Southern Baptist convention, held last week in New Orleans.
A day after electing their first black president in a historic move that strives to erase its legacy of racism, Southern Baptists passed a resolution opposing the idea that same-sex marriage is a civil rights issue.
