The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21-35)

This parable teaches us that we must forgive in order to be forgiven, that forgiveness is to be offered without limitation, and that it must come from the heart.
FB: “Go in peace”
A woman who had the rightly earned reputation as a sinner knelt at the feet of Jesus, anointing them with fragrant oil, and wiping them with the hair on her head.
In this action she exhibited faith in Jesus. Jesus told the master of the house, “her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much” (Luke 7:47). He then told her, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace” (vs. 50).
Jesus told her to “Go in peace” because her sins were forgiven. There is no peace without the forgiveness of sins. When a man’s sins remain he is separated from God. No peace can be found without His presence in your life.
If your life is not blessed with the “peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7), you need to have your sins forgiven. If you want help, contact us, we would love to study with you online or in person..

Sermon: Healing the Sick
Unlike many religious quacks, Jesus is the Great Physician, with the cure for man’s greatest disease, SIN.
Advocacy & Propitiation
“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:1-2).
John’s words reveal two different (though connected) blessings we have as believers in Jesus Christ. And, as we will later emphasize, these blessings are only available to those who are believers in Him (cf. John 14:6). Having said that, the terms used by John are challenging, and need to be explained to those who are not familiar with the language of scripture.

- The lesson discusses the canon of scripture, and how it is obtained. The point is made that the church did not determine what books were conanical. Rather, they acknowledged what all understood to be true.

Must I Forgive? Then How?

- Jesus indicated in Matthew 6 that we must forgive others if we wish to be forgiven. The lesson examines the obligation to forgive, and what to do if a person is unwilling to ask forgiveness of us.

Before the Judgment Seat

- When we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, some will be surprised. Because they are classed among the wicked; they will be the last rather than the first, they will be lost because they were not abounding in the work of the Lord. Live so that you will not be surprised at the judgment seat of Christ.
Sermon: 5 Things God’s Children Should Never Worry About
Paul exhorts us to “be anxious for nothing” (Philippians 4:6). Among other things, 5 things stand out that the Christian should never worry about: 1) Being forsaken by God; 2) Feeling Useless; 3) The future; 4) Bothering God with prayer; and, 5) Feeling unforgiven.
Sermon: Sitting at the Feet of Jesus
Those who are suffering, sorrowful, guilty of sin, and are seekers of truth, all turned to Jesus during His ministry on earth, to sit at His feet, and receive what they needed for healing, comfort, forgiveness and enlightenment. We can and should do the same today.

Mining The Scriptures: 1 John 1:5-10
1 John 1:5-10
Here John relates to his readers a most important message, “God is light” (vs. 5).
This truth has far reaching implications. For example, if we are tempted and sin, it is not God’s fault. He is not responsible for temptation, and we are solely responsible for our own sinful actions (cf. James 1:13-15).
Second, (and the point of these verses), we can not practice sin and be in fellowship with God. As there is “no darkness” in him, those who “walk in darkness” can have no part with God.
That’s not to say that we never sin. In fact, John here says we are lying to ourselves, and also accusing Christ of lying if we say we are not guilty of sin. The fact that Jesus came to earth to die for our sins indicates that we all are guilty. John here affirms the same.
What this does indicate is that God requires us to seek to live righteously. When we sin, we are required to confess those sins to God, and ask forgiveness. God is gracious and faithful in forgiving us upon our repentance.
Have you sinned? Ask God’s forgiveness! We must walk in the light to have to have fellowship with Him.
Sermon: Emulating Christ
Even as we pattern ourselves by those who live righteously… (“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ”, 1 Corinthians 11:1), …ultimately our pattern to follow is the Lord Himself.
What did Christ do for us as our example?
- He suffered for us
- He repelled the tempter through God’s word and prayer
- He forgave sinners seeking His mercy
- He was compassionate
- He exemplified humility

We must forgive others because God forgave us, He commands us, It is in our best interest, and it is necessary for us to receive forgiveness from God.
